Six months after opening its doors, Ezana Music Shop of Washington, DC has been presented with a golden opportunity. The Shop has become one of a few locations selected for the distribution of music and entertainment products by Millennium Studios through its partnership with MuLuMeDia. Through a direct and indirect marketing campaign, the hope is to build a solid relationship with Ethiopian consumer outlets throughtout North America.

As a primary outlet, Ezana is centrally located in a section of D.C. often referred to as "Little Ethiopia" due to the large presence of Ethiopian business establishments in the area. In addition to the music, the store also carries jewelry, clothing, books, gifts and other items. However, owner Negash Beyene tells us that he has plans to convert the storefront that he is currently renovating into a larger entertainment venue attracting all kinds of talent and performers. "Recently, I received authorisation from city administrators to make some modifications to the building. I am hoping to create a new entrance along with some ohter enhancements to optimize the functionality of this location as a resource for entertainment", he says.

EZANA has already launched an initial market plan and hopes to get as many CDs out to vendors and retail locations as possible. According to Ato Negash, "There are a number of opportunities for us to do well here and the potential seems promising. We simply need to stay focused and remember where we came from and what it could mean if we are successful.
